"Modern Music for Modern Times"

Mixed by Joe Kopasek in October of 2003, Modern Breaks was created to promote Baltimore's favorite dance vinyl store, Modern Music. One of B-more's finest DJ's, Chris Bulla, just took over ownership, and an entire mix series was conceptualized. Unfortunately, the only one that saw the light of day was the one you are about to download/listen...

At the time of record selection, none of us had any idea we would never be able to re-stock some of the tunes with others unattainable for almost a year. It was given freely to customers in person and online. At Joe's gigs in the area you may have woke up the next morning with it in your back pocket, or found it in the CD deck as you sped off to work. But the energy it had was more than enough to make up for the cup of coffee you passed up as you raced down the highway hoping to clock in on time.

Throughout the scene, everyone came to own a copy and it ignited a fire setting the local break beat scene off. To this day, many would say this mix was a defining moment for the Baltimore/DC scene. Now for your enjoyment, it has been added to the site. Whether it's a trip down memory lane or your first time listening, one thing is for sure, it will rock you for 80 minutes. ENJOY!
